Report the Found Dog

• • Contact your local dog warden or animal control officer. They can often provide guidance and may be able to collect the dog from you. In North Yorkshire, you can report a found dog to the North Yorkshire County Council using their Lost or Stray Dogs page. They do not operate on a 24 hour basis so it’s best to either care for the dog or find a kennel that is able to, until you are able to make contact with the Dog Warden.

Care for the Dog Temporarily

• • Provide fresh water and food if necessary.
  • If the dog seems comfortable and safe, keep them in a secure area, like a fenced yard or a quiet room in your home.
  • Observe their behavior and take note of any potential injuries or medical issues.
